AAI Steering Committee Endorses Strategic Milestones at Africa Climate Summit 2025
On the sidelines of the 2nd Africa Climate Summit in Ethiopia, the Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI) Steering Committee convened on 6 September 2025 to take stock of progress and reaffirm its commitment to advancing Africa’s adaptation agenda.
This gathering marked a pivotal moment for the Africa Adaptation Initiative, solidifying our commitment to a climate-resilient continent. The past year has been one of significant progress, and we're excited to share some key developments that will shape our work for years to come.
Institutional Reinforcement and Strategic Direction
Our journey towards strengthening AAI's institutional framework has been a top priority. A major milestone was the full operationalization of the AAI Cairo Office in 2024, which now serves as the official headquarters for our Technical Support Unit (TSU). To ensure we have the right talent to drive our mission, we've successfully recruited key human resources for both our Cairo and Rabat offices.
Our Steering Committee has shown strong leadership, providing crucial endorsements that will guide our path forward. The approval of AAI’s Work Plan 2025-2027 is a significant achievement, setting a clear roadmap for our activities over the next three years. This plan, alongside our Updated Strategy 2020-2030, will be the blueprint for our collective efforts in building a more resilient Africa.
We're grateful for the continued support and strategic guidance of our Steering Committee members as we work to translate these decisions into tangible actions on the ground. Together, we are accelerating climate adaptation across Africa.
